Steve O'Connor

Steve O'Connor focuses his practice on handling residential and commercial real estate transactions and advising clients on a wide variety of real property law issues. He supervises the firm's real estate department, which regularly handles 750 to 1000 transactions a year. The department has an experienced staff of loan processors, title searching paralegals and administrative personnel to handle the workload. The firm has a policy of having an attorney personally handle each closing with a buyer/borrower to insure that all questions can be competently and thoroughly answered. This is very important in a military town like Fayetteville, as the firm handles a large number of VA loan closings for first time military buyers. Steve handles the majority of the closings himself.

Steve also handles a wide variety of commercial real estate transactions including commercial leases, acquisition of commercial property, construction loans, and other commercial development including shopping centers, apartments, condominiums and medical buildings. He also has 20 plus years of civil litigation experience, primarily in the real estate and business areas, which gives him practical insight in drafting documents to avoid common litigation issues. He has practiced in the past in other areas such as administrative law and immigration law and therefore has a broad range of civil law experience. Steve has been a speaker at continuing education programs on real estate and business law topics.

In his free time, Steve enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, activities at Haymount United Methodist Church, and pursuing his hobbies of playing the guitar and bass, and flatwater kayaking.
